High-risk pregnancy care is a structured programme for mothers with gestational diabetes, pregnancy-induced hypertension or pre-eclampsia, twin pregnancy, previous caesarean or pregnancy loss, thyroid or cardiac disease, placental problems or growth concerns.
Care includes closer antenatal visits, serial growth and Doppler scans, 4D ultrasound where indicated, foetal well-being tests, and joint review with physicians, cardiologists or endocrinologists when another condition needs co-management.
A delivery plan is agreed well before the due date, with the neonatal team, blood support and theatre kept on standby so decisions can be acted on immediately.
