The early pregnancy unit supports the first weeks of pregnancy, when reassurance and prompt review matter most, covering pregnancy confirmation, dating scans, threatened miscarriage, bleeding or cramping, and a history of previous pregnancy loss.
Same-day or next-day review is prioritised for bleeding or pain in early pregnancy, with ultrasound and hormone testing used together to confirm viability and location of the pregnancy.
Where a loss is confirmed, the unit provides both the medical management and the emotional support to plan the next step with the couple.
